Key activities with total target

Providing child health services: Supported health facilities will provide routine health education sessions on child health, immunization, and integrated management of neonatal and childhood illnesses. They will also distribute LLITNs, provide vitamin A supplementation, promote adequate infant and young child feeding behaviors, screen for nutrition, and refer for nutrition therapeutic programs.

Providing maternal and neonatal health services: Health workers will provide antenatal care, skilled delivery, postnatal care, family planning, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, and referral to secondary health services. They will also conduct health education sessions for pregnant and lactating mothers.

Providing obstetric and newborn care: All primary health care centers and hospitals will operate basic obstetric and newborn care and comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care. Health workers will receive refresher training and continuous medical education, and capacity needs assessments will be conducted.

Providing sexual and gender-based violence services: Health workers will be trained on clinical management of rape and GBV psychosocial support. They will also provide identification, counseling, clinical management of rape, and proper referral for victims of SGBV, including rape victims.

Distributing essential medicines and supplies: UNICEF will procure and distribute essential medicines and supplies to the county level.

Covid-19 preparedness and response: Health staff will be trained on COVID-19 detection, assessment, and response, including strengthening IPC measures. Routine vaccination on COVID-19 will be integrated into routine services delivery.

Disease surveillance and outbreak response: Supported health facilities will conduct daily surveillance of priority diseases and report weekly through IDSR and EWARS. Outbreaks will be responded to within 72 hours.

Quality improvement and supervision: RI and consortium partners will conduct weekly in-service training, monthly supportive supervision, and provide infection prevention and control measures.

Community health care services: RI and consortium partners will strengthen the existing BHI program to provide community health care services, including management of top morbidities at the community level, screening for malnutrition, assessing for immunization, referring for services, and providing house-to-house health education. The project will support 52 BHI sites across different locations.

Key activities with total target.

• Develop an updated TB diagnostic algorithm that incorporates the latest evidence and research, prioritizing early suspect identification and the use of molecular technology to improve the accuracy and speed of diagnosis.

• Procure and install molecular diagnostic equipment in 5 NIDO-supported healthcare facilities and mobile clinics.

• Train 100 healthcare workers on the use of molecular diagnostic techniques, including the use of GeneXpert machines.

• Conduct targeted TB screening campaigns in communities, schools, and other settings.

• Ensure that all patients who test positive for TB receive treatment and follow-up care.

• Develop and implement a patient tracking system to monitor treatment adherence and outcomes.

• Conduct regular quality assurance checks on the molecular diagnostic equipment.

• Conduct training and capacity-building programs for healthcare workers on how to accurately classify TB cases and treatment outcomes using the new R&R format.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive rehabilitation program for leprosy patients.

• Develop a comprehensive community-based rehabilitation program that addresses these needs.

• Develop and implement a training program for community health workers, caregivers, and other support staff.
